BRIEF HISTORY OF TALOJA MANUFACTURERS' ASSOCIATION

Taloja Manufacturers’ Association is registered under Bombay Public Trust Act, 1950 as a Charitable Trust in 1985. At present there are 105 Life Members and 300 Ordinary Members of the Association. The membership fee is charged on the basis of area of the plot allotted to the industry. TMA has its own building with ground plus 2 floors. It has Air conditioned conference hall with 300 audience capacity. The State Bank of India, Taloja branch, Central Excise Range Offices of Belapur and Raigad Commissionerate and Restaurants are located in this building.

The total area of Taloja MIDC is 900 hectors with about 950 industries in operation. The total turnover of this industrial area is Rs 75000 crores per annum. There is export of Rs 9000 crores per annum from Taloja MIDC of which Rs 6000 crores are from Sea Food industries in Taloja. The total workforce including workers and supervisors is about 1 lakh in 3 shifts.

Majority industries in Taloja are manufacturers of chemicals and engineering cutters besides pharmaceutical and seafood industries.

In Taloja MIDC since 2008 there was no light on Tuesday and no water on Friday. Industries were suffering heavily on 2 days in week. TMA had taken up this issue at the Zilla Udyog Mitra and State Level Udyog Mitra. As a result the Chairman and Managing Director of MSEB finally resolved this issue and now since 18th Oct 2013 only on Friday there is no light and no electricity. The weekly off is changed from Tuesday to Friday. This happens due to TMAs efforts.

TMA has a Managing Committee elected after every 3 years with 15 members of which are President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Jt. Secretary and Jt. Treasurer are the Office Bearers. The Managing Committee meets every month and takes decision for improvement of infrastructure and other services in Taloja MIDC.

As a result of efforts of TMA a beautiful cement concrete main road from Navade Bridge to Asahi India Glass about 6.5 KM. has been recently completed and illuminated with speed breakers etc. The issue of De-notification of Kasardi River which was prohibiting many chemical units within the distance of 100 mtrs, 500 mtrs and 750 mtrs from expansion and even changing products was taken up by TMA at highest levels. The State Govt. de-notified this river from RRZ policy with effect from 13th June 2014. This was a big achievement of TMA.

For the benefit of industries in Taloja TMA conducts various seminars pertaining to industries viz filing of E-returns for Industries Department, Labour Department, Excise Department, ESIC etc) .( Recently TMA has succeeded in starting Navi Mumbai Transport Bus from CBD Belapur Railway Station to Hikal Company in Taloja MIDC from 22nd Mar 2016 with the help of Police of Navi Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

TMA has established goodwill among the industries as well as with the Govt. Departments viz MIDC, MSEDCL, MPCB, DISH, MTNL, Labour, ESIC and most important the Police Department.

TMA has 2 major forums i.e Mutual Aids Response Group (MARG) and HR Forum which are very much active in Taloja MIDC. TMA has submitted a proposal to the State Govt. for starting Hazardous Vehicle Drivers training course which is likely to be approved shortly.

TMA is Member of Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and also Member of Chamber of Small Industry Associations(COSIA). It is-also representative in the Regional Advisory Committee (RAC) of Central Excise. It has representation as a member in the Panvel Railway Station Consultative Committee.
